25 Most Hated Life-Admin Tasks

In a survey of 2,000 adults carried out by Swinton Insurance, it was calculated that the typical adult spends three hours a week dealing with personal administration such as paying bills, renewing insurances and other admin tasks for the household. That’s one week a year spent doing a range of tasks that we don’t enjoy and are preventing us from spending our time doing the more fun things in life. Some of the respondents claimed to having to take time off work to complete the mountain of tasks that they had let build up over time, whilst others admitted to regularly missing deadlines to get these jobs completed.

 

Here’s the Top 25 most hated life-admin tasks:

  1. MOT’ing your car

  2. Renewing passports

  3. Renewing home insurance

  4. Changing utility companies

  5. Renewing car insurance

  6. Filing a tax return

  7. Filing paperwork/bills

  8. Taxing the car

  9. Making changes to a TV / phone package

  10. Doing a price comparison for utilities

  11. Booking dentist check-ups

  12. Applying for a new job

  13. Getting around to getting quotes from tradesman to do jobs

  14. Getting an eye-test

  15. Making an insurance claim

  16. Shred paperwork/bills

  17. Putting things on ebay to sell

  18. Booking in the car for a service

  19. Querying a mobile phone bill

  20. Changing addresses on driving licence

  21. Changing email addresses

  22. Clearing out old clothes and taking to charity shop

  23. Order repeat prescriptions

  24. Look in to a pension

  25. Cancelling old subscriptions
